Points of Light, Oakland

Since 2007, POL has been reaching and saving at-risk youth in the inner city of Oakland by implementing creative and effective faith-based programs. We are instilling Christian values in youth and children, which become their foundation to inspire them to take courage and power to be a point of light in their communities, providing hope and relief to other youth within Oakland.

There are hundreds of churches in Oakland, but there are no inner-city youth pastors. Inner city churches lack the resources to provide for youth and children because of the needs and hurts in their communities.

Diana Miller

Diana Miller is the architect of the World Health Organization’s Age-Friendly Initiative in Silicon Valley. Her strategic vision–to share knowledge of the program’s benefits to cities–will result in WHO’s recognition that Santa Clara is the first County in the United States to have each of its fifteen cities declared “age-friendly”.

Recognizing the huge shift occurring in the demographics of older persons — and the startling requirements of a swelling universe of seniors with increased unmet needs — Diana embarked on a mission to inform civic leaders and motivate them to take action. Combining her passion with focus will ultimately yield a better life for seniors everywhere who will benefit from the global Age-Friendly movement that Diana is helping guide.

Diana’s dedication and talent spring from her decades of hands-on experience as a community organizer and her deeply personal commitment to improve the lives of some of our society’s most challenged populations. The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, and resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible:

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.

Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man and crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;

He suffered and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; And He shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead: Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.

And I believe in one united and apostolic church; I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
